The Arizona Diamondbacks’ lockers are tidied up and the uniforms are laid out for their 2016 Opening Day home game against the Colorado Rockies.
With that, we learned that a patch worn on the D-backs jerseys will honor the late Joe Garagiola Sr., the former D-backs television analyst and MLB player who died at the age of 90 in late March.
The Garagiola Sr. patch, placed on the right arms of the Diamondbacks uniforms, simply reads “JOE” with a catcher’s mask in place of the “O.”
The D-backs will wear the patches all season long.
@PhilHecken For many years, they have had a giant version of this on the wall behind the broadcast booth in AZ.
