Arizona Cardinals to ask Joey Porter to take pay cut

The often frugal Cardinals have plenty of money, but they are hoping to save a little of it as well.
According to a tweet by Kent Somers, the Cardinals are preparing to cut Joey Porter if he is unwilling to take a pay cut.
The Cardinals want Joey Porter to take a pay cut from $5.75 million salary. If he doesn’t, Cardinals likely to release him.
In his one year as a Cardinal, Porter accumulated 50 tackles and five sacks. He did not perform bad, but did not live up to his contract either.
Arizona could use Porter’s veteran presence on defense, but only if a pay cut is accepted.
Porter’s production does not warrant $5.75 million as the Cardinals could sign a free agent linebacker for a lot cheaper.
While Arizona does have money under the cap, they need to sign some more players to fill out their 90 man training camp roster and they will also need money to sign Kevin Kolb, if acquired, to a long-term deal.
