Zack Greinke is done with his rehab assignment after one less-than-impressive outing. The Diamondbacks will welcome their ace back to the mound Tuesday for a road series opener against the New York Mets.

The 32-year-old, who injured his oblique June 28 against the Phillies, comes off a five-inning outing Wednesday for Triple-A Reno in which he allowed five earned runs, two home runs and nine hits to the Salt Lake Bees.

In speaking with the Deseret News after the game, Greinke didn’t sound concerned about his ugly outing and said he felt 100 percent healthy. He also admitted that it usually takes time for him to return to form.

“This was pretty similar to my other rehab starts. I am always bad in these outings. I’m usually awful right when I get back to the big leagues, too.”

Greinke re-takes the mound with a 3.62 ERA and 10-3 record. Two of those losses came in Greinke’s first two starts, and he hit his stride in June — Greinke had a 1.63 ERA in 38.2 innings — before leaving in the third inning of a game against Philadelphia.
