Manny Wilkins has a knack for hurdling defenders. He did it against Northern Arizona University in the first game of the season, then he cleared a Texas Tech defender the following week.
Even while recovering from an injury and noticeably limping at times, Wilkins still managed to hurdle a defender against Washington State Saturday night.

The three-yard touchdown run by Wilkins capped an 11-play, 59-yard opening drive for Arizona State, a start the team sorely needed at home after their 40-16 loss at Colorado last week.
Later on in the quarter, backup quarterback Dillon Sterling-Cole was in for Wilkins.

The TV broadcast cited that Wilkins was being checked for a new injury. He would not return to the game.
The sophomore, who did play in the Colorado game, missed the Sun Devils’ 23-20 win over UCLA two weeks ago. Redshirt freshman Brady White made the start in place of Wilkins, but he would leave the game late and be ruled out for the rest of the season due to a right foot injury. Third-string true freshman Sterling-Cole, originally the fourth-string quarterback in camp, was planned on being redshirted, but played in the closing moments of that game and forfeited his redshirt.
The lack of a third-string QB has made freshman Jack Smith switch from wide receiver to quarterback, the position he played in high school.
