The Arizona State Sun Devils will be without sophomore cornerback Nigel Pringle for the 2026 season, head coach Kenny Dillingham announced Saturday.
“Nigel Pringle had an injury at Camp T. He’s gonna be out for the year, unfortunately — fluke injury,” Dillingham told reporters. “He’s a tough kid. Sad to see it.”
The 6-foot-1 Texas native transferred to ASU from Arkansas this offseason.
Pringle played in eight games last year as a Razorback and collected two tackles as a true freshman.
He was rated as a three-star transfer and was a consensus three-star prospect coming out of Houston, Texas, according to 247Sports.
Pringle is the second defender ASU has lost for the season, as sophomore defensive tackle MyKeil Gardner ruptured his Achilles in June.
What does Nigel Pringle’s injury mean for ASU’s secondary?
Pringle was set to be a depth piece at cornerback for the Sun Devils’ two-deep look in 2026 before his season-ending injury.
Senior Ashton Stamps and junior Rodney Bimage Jr. are locked in as ASU’s starting cornerbacks, and freshman Daquwan Dunn has positioned himself behind those two with an impressive camp.
Depth behind those three now includes junior Nasir Stephens, whom the Sun Devils replaced sophomore Chance Rucker with after Rucker and ASU parted ways, and Antoine Belgrave-Shorter.
Dillingham said Belgrave-Shorter, a Penn State transfer, is working his way back from injury, and he’ll move from safety to cornerback to compensate for Pringle’s injury.
