The Arizona Cardinals were dealt some more bad injury news Monday when it was learned that linebacker Matt Shaughnessy will miss a significant amount of time.
“He’ll go on (injured reserve) with a designation to return,” head coach Bruce Arians told Bickley and Marotta on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM Monday. “He’s got a meniscus tear and he should be back for the Kansas City game.”
Placing Shaughnessy on injured reserve with a designation to return means he’ll miss at least six weeks and eight games. The Cardinals host the Chiefs Dec. 7 at University of Phoenix Stadium.
Shaughnessy, a sixth-year veteran out of Wisconsin, has registered nine total tackles through the first four games of the season. He had 36 total tackles and three sacks in 16 games last season.
