D-backs’ Robbie Ray pays tribute to Amy Hall at MLB All-Star Game
D-backs pitcher Robbie Ray paid tribute to Amy Hall during the MLB All-Star Game as part of the Stand Up To Cancer movement.
In July of 2016, Arizona Diamondbacks president and CEO Derrick Hall announced his wife Amy was fighting breast cancer.
A year later, during his first MLB All-Star Game, D-backs pitcher Robbie Ray paid tribute to Mrs. Hall. As part of the Stand Up To Cancer movement, All-Star participants held up signs displaying the names of the people they stand for — people who have been affected by the dreaded disease.
Ray’s gesture didn’t go unnoticed.

Hall himself was diagnosed with prostate cancer and had successful surgery in November of 2011. He is now cancer-free. He launched the Derrick Hall Pro-State Foundation in 2013 as a “comprehensive tool for those who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer and their families to help them understand the challenges and choices they face and how they can maintain a “pro” state of mind.”

I thought that the Stand Up To Cancer moment was a great moment in the game. Oh no now I sound like Torrey. In all seriousness though, the cards and the moment of silence was great gesture by the MLB and its players. I think Lamb had his sister, Megan, on his card and Goldy honored PCH on his card too. Some players had theirs filled with names.
