Ketel Marte’s agent: 2B wants to return ‘soon as possible,’ calls D-backs’ support ‘unwavering’

Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte wants to return as soon as possible and appreciates the Diamondbacks’ support, his agent told MLB Network’s Jon Morosi.
Marte is dealing with a personal matter and will have an MRI on his knee on Thursday, Charisse Espinosa-Dash added.
“Ketel appreciates the unwavering support from fans, teammates, the Diamondbacks organization, and Torey Lovullo during this time,” his agent told Morosi. “He remains optimistic about his recovery and looks forward to returning to the field to contribute to the team as soon as possible.”
After Marte did not show up to Fenway Park for Monday’s game, Arizona placed the three-time All-Star on the restricted list due to a personal matter before Monday’s game in Boston, which the Red Sox won 11-1.
AZCentral.com’s Nick Piecoro and MLB.com’s Steve Gilbert reported on Tuesday Marte had been sent back to Phoenix to undergo an MRI on his knee.
Lovullo told reporters after Monday’s game that he heard something was going on with Marte on Monday morning, but he expected his second baseman to report to the ballpark.
Marte did not communicate with Lovullo that he was not coming to the ballpark for Monday’s game.

Sorry Ketel, but the fan support is not "unwavering" and I would be willing to bet the clubhouse support is not "unwavering" as well, starting with the disappearance last year and now doing it all over again this year.
And doing it again with the team getting reenforcements heading into a playoff push?? This distraction will be the reason this team stumbles and misses the playoffs.
I have empathy for anyone who has dealt with or is currently dealing with behavioral health issues so, if that's what's going on, I hope things turn around for him or his family.
Having said that, you cannot abandon your team. No idea of the true details, of course--I'm reading all these stories as they're published, just like everyone else. But I did think of the video that we've probably all seen celebrating the 2001 championship team and, specifically, the comments by Matt Williams regarding he and Jay Bell being brought in to be leaders in the clubhouse, to set the tone. My hunch is the 2001 team had several leaders in the clubhouse in addition to Williams and Bell and I think--don't know because I'm not on the roster--that's something that's missing today. Maybe it's a "2026 thing", I don't know, but the crying and hugging and coddling is hard to watch.
I wish Marte the best going forward but he does need to get help. This is the second year in a row he’s pulled this nonsense so I for one am done.
