Plus two sub .500 teams are playing each other. Somebody is going to win.
The season's pretty much over, but at least there's still a little life in them. Jake McCarthy needs to be sent home, though...... tears up AAA but can't get anything done with the main club....
Yes, it is a victory but it isn't something to write home about. Trust me, probably most of the local sport shows are going to 'promote' that the Dbacks are on the right track: that everything is okay; etc. Let them win 3, 4 or 5 consecutive series then you and the media can give them the accolades and anoint them as the next World Series champion.
When E-Rod pitched against the White Sox and pitched a good game...the local media anointed him to be Cy Young. The reality was that the White Sox was the worst batting team in the MLB at the time of the game, E-Rod should have pitched a no-hitter given the quality of the White Sox.
It is like college basketball, where they can schedule a bunch of games with 'Cupcake U' teams before the start of the conference games. Playing against inferior teams is not going to build confidence (it builds a false sense of security); build skills; etc.
It seems like none of the local media want to point out the real problem with the Dbacks which is pitching. The Dbacks pitching has been ranked at the bottom of the MLB since the 2020 season. In 5 years, the pitching hasn't improved.
They made three FA signings...Burnes (a good signing and was producing results but was injured)...E-Rod (a bust) and Montgomery (a bust). How many pitchers (starters or relievers) came up from the Dbacks farm system since 2020 and have produced for the Dbacks?
