The Athletic: ASU’s Max Iheanachor, Arizona’s Treydan Stukes are NFL prospects ‘who delivered’

Arizona State offensive tackle Max Iheanachor and Arizona safety Treydan Stukes turned heads at the NFL Combine last week, and The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman had them on his list of prospects who delivered.

Feldman pieced together takeaways from the combine, and it included Iheanachor’s movement in the on-field drills and Stukes’ 40-yard dash time.

The ASU offensive tackle does not have a lot of experience at the position, but opted for an extra year with the Sun Devils in 2025 to develop his craft, and it seems to have paid off.

Iheanachor impressed many with his 40-yard dash and broad jump performances, including ESPN’s Field Yates and Feldman.

Last year, Arizona State produced a compelling draft story with Cam Skattebo. The Sun Devils have another one in OT Max Iheanachor, a former high school basketball player born in Nigeria who moved to the U.S. at 13. At 6-foot-6, 321 pounds, he ran a 4.91-second 40 and broad jumped 9 feet, 7 inches and he moved very well in the on-field drills. I was texting with one of his coaches at ASU, strength coach Joe Connolly, over the weekend, who described him as “super athletic and a great kid.” He also spoke about how glad he is that Iheanachor decided to stay for last season and didn’t leave early. “He’s a true developmental guy. You don’t get that very much anymore.”

Iheanachor’s athleticism score (90) was the fifth-best among offensive lineman and his total score (77) was sixth for his position.

He earned a 6.30 prospect grade, which means he is expected to be a plus-starter down the line.

From Tempe to Tucson, the Wildcats also had a rising star at the combine.

Stukes impressed scouts and analysts alike with his 4.33-second 40-yard dash, and his vertical and broad jump raised his stock further.

Another DB whose stock should rise after this week is Arizona’s Treydan Stukes, a former walk-on who has played a lot at nickel and made a bunch of spectacular plays for a much-improved Wildcats team in 2024. The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder with almost 32-inch arms had an impressive showing. His testing numbers were elite: a 4.33-second 40 with a 1.50-second 10-yard split, along with a 10 feet, 10 inches broad jump and a 38-inch vertical. He was described as a really long, athletic guy with good character — he was a team captain — who has some technique things he needs to clean up, but can fix. The traits and makeup are already there.

Stukes’ athleticism score (79) was eighth among safeties and his total score was ninth (77) in his position group.

He earned a 6.24 prospect grade, which is also in the category of an eventual plus-starter.

The 2026 NFL Draft gets underway April 23 on ESPN and ABC. Iheanachor could be drafted in the first round after his combine performance and Stukes may have gotten himself into the second- or third-round range.
