Arizona State appears in latest College Football Playoff rankings

Arizona State came in at No. 25 in Tuesday’s College Football Playoff rankings, the Sun Devils’ first appearance in said rankings this season.

ASU (7-3, 5-2 Big 12) missed out on being ranked in the committee’s first two iterations of the rankings but claimed the final spot following its 25-23 win against West Virginia.

Tuesday’s reveal comes after ASU received 19 votes in the most-recent edition of AP Top 25 Poll, but remained unranked.

Texas Tech (10-1, 7-1 Big 12) is the highest-ranked Big 12 team in the College Football Playoff rankings at No. 5, joining BYU (11), Utah (12) and Houston (23) as one of the five Big 12 squads ranked by the CFP committee.

Despite Arizona (7-3, 4-3 Big 12) receiving nine votes in the AP Poll for the first time this season following Saturday’s 30-24 win against Cincinnati, the Wildcats did not appear in the committee’s rankings this week.

The Sun Devils return to action on Saturday to face Colorado (3-7, 1-6 Big 12) at Folsom Field. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. MST and can be seen on ESPN2.

The Wildcats will host Baylor (5-5, 3-4 Big 12) at the newly named Casino Del Sol Stadium at 11 a.m. MST. The game can be seen on TNT.
