Arizona Cardinals pass rusher Josh Sweat is back with the team for mandatory minicamp this week, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
It remains to be seen how much he participates on the field during minicamp.
Sweat was not present for any of Arizona’s voluntary team activities this offseason. He did the same last year.
Still, there were trade whispers of his unhappiness, especially with former head coach Jonathan Gannon’s firing at the start of the offseason. Rapoport last week refuted the reporting and said Sweat would not be traded.
Sweat carries a cap hit of $16.4 million with $9.8 million guaranteed in 2026. He has no guaranteed money on the books in the two seasons that follow, according to OverTheCap.
Sweat is far and away the Cardinals’ best pass-rushing option.
He racked up a career-high 12 sacks with 13 tackles for loss, four forced fumbles and 17 QB hits in 17 starts last year.
Sweat marks the second notable Cardinals return this week after news of quarterback Jacoby Brissett’s attendance.
The veteran signal caller has remained away for the entirety of voluntary work amid a request for a raise that pays him as Arizona’s starter. How much he participates is the next question.
With both Sweat and Brissett back with the team for minicamp, they avoid potential fines that could have reached $107,911 depending on days missed.

This is why I flat out stop paying attention to football until the actual season. Screw the drama. You guys had your part in it, I get it, to make money. But I can't stand it.
If Sweat stays positive and gets back to work, Monti should give him a bit of cash and some future guarantees.
