Could Tiger Woods end his long absence from the Waste Management Phoenix Open?

Golf.com is citing two sources that say Woods will indeed do just that, going as far to report that the world’s most well-known golfer has reserved a courtesy car for the event, which gets underway with a week of festivities Jan. 26 at the TPC of Scottsdale.

Woods’ history in Scottsdale has provided both memorable and forgettable moments. In 1997, Woods notched a hole-in-one on the infamous 16th hole, the most rowdy and boisterous single stop on the PGA Tour.

Two years later, a fan who was heckling Woods was later to be found with a gun in possession and two years after that, a fan threw an orange onto a green while Tiger was putting.

Woods has played the event only three times, but has registered two top-five finishes, including a third-place showing in 1999.
