Suns select Miami G Davon Reed with 32nd pick in NBA Draft

Miami Hurricanes guard Davon Reed was selected No. 32 overall to the Phoenix Suns in the second round of the 2017 NBA Draft.

The Suns are adding experience — in the form of a draft pick. Phoenix selected 22-year-old shooting guard Davon Reed out of Miami with the 32nd overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.

The hope would be that the three-and-D prospect can add backcourt depth behind starting guard Devin Booker.

At 6-foot-6 and 208 pounds with a 7-foot wingspan, Reed averaged 14.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists as a senior. He shot 43 percent overall and 40 percent from three-point range while taking six per game.

Reed is yet another addition to a young core for Phoenix that includes Booker (20), Marquese Chriss (19), Dragan Bender (19), Derrick Jones Jr. (20) and Tyler Ulis (21).

The Suns selected 20-year-old Kansas swingman Josh Jackson with the No. 4 pick in the draft earlier on Thursday.

I really like this pick, especially his wingspan and defensive acumen.

Pretty underwhelming, considering Jordan Bell, Mason, etc were still available. Even worse, the Warriors ended up getting Bell. Really looking forward to hearing the GM rationalize this pick. Seems like a throwaway. Still pleased with Jackson but this is a dash of cold water, I guess. Disappointed.
