Prince Amukamara visits Cardinals

There’s one player the Arizona Cardinals may be interested in drafting who wouldn’t have to worry about adjusting to hot summers or playing in Glendale.

According to reports from the National Football Post, Nebraska cornerback Prince Amukamara visited the Cardinals recently.

As the main focus of Nebraska’s secondary, Amukamara had an impressive senior season recording 59 tackles and 13 pass breakups as well as being named as the Big 12’s defensive player of the year and a first team All-American.

The name may sound familiar, and not just because it’s so unique. Before he became a Cornhusker he played his high school ball at Apollo High in Glendale where he was a running back and defensive back.

Prior to visiting with the Cardinals he met with the Bengals, Cowboys, Lions, Patriots and Panthers. He is also scheduled to meet with the 49ers, Buccaneers, Browns and Redskins.

His combine numbers were impressive as well according to the National Football Post.

He has run the 40-yard dash in the 4.4 to 4.5 range. The 6-foot-1, 205-pounder was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year as only 18 of 52 passes were completed against him last season as he knocked down 13 passes and posted 58 tackles.

While he may not be the Cards first choice at No. 5, by pairing him with Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, he could solidify their secondary and give them two of the top corners in the game. In a league that is continuing to become more and more pass happy that can’t be a bad thing. Neither can the fact that he’s a hometown kid.
