Phoenix Suns forward T.J. Warren left a preseason game against the Utah Jazz Friday with a head injury.

According to play-by-play announcer Al McCoy on a 98.7 FM Arizona Sports Station’s broadcast on ESPN 620 AM, Warren was closing out on a three-point shooter in the corner and collided with the shooter.

Warren fell into an area where there was cement and hit his head. He was then taken to the locker room with a large amount of towels against his head.

The team released a statement on Warren Saturday.

Last night Phoenix Suns forward T.J. Warren received sutures for a laceration on his head. By NBA policy, he was evaluated for a concussion and was not placed into concussion protocol. This afternoon, he was re-evaluated by team physician Dr. Tom Fiel in Phoenix and it was confirmed he will not be placed in the concussion protocol. His status is day-to-day.

Warren missed 13 games last year with what the team called a minor head injury.

The 24-year-old recently signed a four-year, $50 million extension with the team on Sept. 26. Entering his fourth year in the NBA, Warren is averaging 14.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.
