Hakim Warrick “Tebows” in pre-game huddle
It’s sweeping the nation and on Sunday it was on display
at US Airways Center.
Hakim Warrick, in the Suns pre-game huddle, “Tebow’d”.
“The crazy thing is,” he said afterwords, “as I was doing
it I think that’s when he threw his 80-yard bomb.”
Warrick, before dropping to one knee and placing his right
hand up to his face, motioned to head athletic trainer and
avid Steelers fan Aaron Nelson.
“I expected something like that,” said Nelson, who
attended last year’s AFC Championship Game in Pittsburgh
thanks to a break in the Suns schedule (the team played at
Philadelphia the next day).
Nelson watched the Steelers/Broncos game while he readied
the players for the game against Milwaukee. His screams
could be heard all the way down the hallway leading to
head coach Alvin Gentry’s office.
“I thought I was going to miss the National Anthem,”
Nelson said of the Steelers comeback to force overtime
right as the Suns were headed out onto the court. “I did
have to go out and my support left with them I guess.”
Nelson was ribbed about the Steelers defeat throughout the
game.
“I thought (Warrick) got injured late in the game because
he pulled a fake, ‘Hey get over here Nellie! Over here!
Quick, injury!’ I went over there and he was trying to
point out a lady in the stands that was wearing a Tebow
jersey.”
Added Channing Frye, “We’ve got a nice little surprise for
(Nelson Monday).”
