Another one: D-backs’ A.J. Pollock named NL Player of the Week

The National League Player of the Month for April hasn’t cooled off in May. Arizona Diamondbacks center fielder A.J. Pollock was named as the NL Player of the Week on Monday after a strong finish to the last seven days.
Pollock hit a walkoff single to score David Peralta on Saturday in a 4-3 victory for the D-backs over the Houston Astros, then a day later scored on a wild triple courtesy of a controversial base-running obstruction call against Houston.
Pollock batted .423 over the last week with an NL-leading 1.00 slugging percentage. He produced those numbers with four home runs.
Put it all together, and he’s an MVP candidate so far this young season.

Pollock leads the NL in slugging (.669), OPS (1.032) and is tied for first with 29 RBIs on the year. Of his 38 total hits this season, 22 have gone for extra bases.
The outfielder also leads the NL with 2.0 Wins Above Replacement for the Diamondbacks, who at 23-11 have a 3.5-game lead on the Colorado Rockies in the NL West and lead the NL over the St. Louis Cardinals by 2.0 games as of Monday morning.
Cleveland Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor earned the AL Player of the Week honor for slugging four home runs while slashing .425/.439/.825 over the past week.
