Babby: Suns should not overreact to current struggles

The Suns are currently 6-11, and have dropped their last
three home games, all to some of the Eastern Conference’s
bottom feeders.
Suns President of Basketball Operations Lon Babby, a guest
on Arizona Sports 620’s Doug and Wolf, said he’s almost
not allowed to panic.
“We all have different functions and different roles,”
Babby said. “The coach, Alvin [Gentry], is living and
breathing this every day, every game; he is reacting to
every play of every game, and he’s in the trenches.”
Babby said he and general manager Lance Blanks cannot have
the same mindset as the coach.
“What I’m trying to do and what Lance is trying to do…is
to stay a little more on an even keel, emotionally, with
these wins and losses,” he said, “and make sure that we’re
making good long-term decisions.”
That means things are not likely to change, though any
moves the front office makes will have more to do with the
future of the Suns than the present, so a quick fix may
not be in order for this team.
“I think you’ve got to stay in your lane and not over-
react and stay the course and be calm and let Alvin do his
job,” he said. “That doesn’t mean we don’t make
suggestions and talk to him every day and hear him out.”
