Suns’ Jackson, Jazmyne explore Chicago, experience NBA Draft Lottery

It might have been Jazmyne. It might have been Suns forward Josh Jackson’s lucky underwear. Maybe it was just math.

No matter which, the Suns won the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft Lottery on Tuesday, and Jazmyne Weber, a nine-year-old from El Mirage who battles Spina Bifida, deserved the day spent in Chicago.

Jackson, Jazmyne, her mom, 12-year old sister and some Suns staff spent the day in the Windy City before the lottery.

Perhaps the only thing more stressful for Jackson that day than the time between when the lottery started and when the Suns were announced as the No. 1 pick was standing on the Ledge at Willis Tower.

The two met at the Chicago landmark, also known as Sears Tower, which is a 110-foot-tall landmark of the city.

Jackson looked down at the transparent glass overlooking the city.

“No.”

He ended up getting convinced to stand on it for a picture.

It seemed to go fine – after all, anything is peaceful from 1,353 feet.

After leaving Willis Tower, the group – consisting of Jackson, Jazmyne, the girl’s mother and 12-year-old sister, and some Suns staff – grabbed lunch.

They did it the only way you can during a day trip to the Windy City: pizza.

They also stopped by Millennium Park, where The Gorilla stuffed animal had a bit of an accident.

Of course, they stopped to see the Bean too.

It took a second for Jackson to get his 6-foot-8 frame to fit in the photo.

It turned out great, though.

Jackson invited Jazmyne to join him for the NBA Draft Lottery.

Jazmyne, who was diagnosed with Spina Bifida in the womb, is passionate about basketball and cheers for the Suns and Phoenix Mercury.

“Hopefully you can bring us some luck to get the number one pick,” he told her.

She did.

For the first time in franchise history, Phoenix will have the first pick.

Chicago treated them well.
