Stoudemire hoping for reunion with Nash in New York

May 10, 2012, 6:55 PM | Updated: 8:10 pm

Amare Stoudemire has learned that life without Steve Nash
is not nearly as fun as live with the point guard.

Stoudemire left the Suns for the New York Knicks a couple
years ago, and while had a pretty good initial season with
the team, his 2011-12 campaign was nothing short of a
disaster.

Whether it was a bad back, struggles with his shot or
issues with glass-enclosed fire extinguishers, Amare
really had a tough go of things.

So, it shouldn’t really come as much of a surprise that
STAT would like to see his former running mate join him in
the Big Apple.

“Everyone knows that Steve loves New York and that New
York loves Steve,” Stoudemire told The Daily News.
“I love Steve. It would be great to have him here
next year.”

Yeah, about that…

Once thought of as a likely landing spot for the two-time
MVP, the Knicks likely saw their best chance go out the
window the second Mike D’Antoni stepped down as head
coach.

And, without one of his favorite coaches running the show,
Nash may not find the idea of having to get both
Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony enough shots to be happy.
Besides, the Knicks will not have as much money to spend
as some teams, likely putting them at a disadvantage right
from the start.

That said, as the Daily News notes, Nash does spend part
of his summer in Manhattan and has always had an affinity
for the area. Would that be enough to convince him to
sign?

We’ll find out soon enough.
