Paul Goldschmidt gets start as DH in 2018 MLB All-Star Game

Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt will start as the National League’s designated hitter Tuesday in the 2018 MLB All-Star Game in Washington D.C.
Lineups for the Midsummer Classic were announced in a press conference including American League manager A.J. Hinch of the Astros and NL skipper Dave Roberts of the Dodgers.
Goldschmidt appeared third on the lineup card and is sandwiched between Rockies infielder Nolan Arenado and the Braves’ Freddie Freeman.

Goldschmidt is slashing .281/.386/.534 this season with 21 home runs and 52 RBI despite an abysmal month of May.
The D-backs first baseman hit .144 in May before producing 10 home runs, 23 RBI and a .364 average in June, then four more home runs, 10 more RBI and a .377 average through half of July.
Washington Nationals ace Max Scherzer will start on the mound for the NL squad to square off against Boston Red Sox pitcher Chris Sale of the AL.
Goldschmidt’s Arizona teammates, pitchers Patrick Corbin and Zack Greinke, will be available out of the bullpen for the National League.
