Arizona Cardinals release 28 players to reduce roster

The Arizona Cardinals announced on Saturday that they have released 28 players in preparation for their initial 53-man roster.

Notable players to be cut include wide receivers Pharoh Cooper and Chad Williams, tight ends Ricky Seals-Jones and Caleb Wilson, and recently-acquired defensive lineman Bruce Hector.

The Cardinals also waived/injured offensive linemen Rees Odhiambo and William Sweet, linebacker Pita Taumoepenu, cornerback Brandon Williams and reached an injury settlement with running back Wes Hills.

Arizona has the top waiver claim on players with fewer than four years of NFL experience and will have until 1 p.m. Arizona time Sunday to make those claims.
