One cornerback at the NFL Scouting Combine flashed plenty of speed on Sunday.
Utah cornerback Javelin Guidry clocked a 4.29 for his 40-yard dash at the combine.
Alabama wide receiver Henry Ruggs III has the fastest time for the 40-yard dash at this year’s combine with a 4.27. The fastest 40-yard dash record is currently held by Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver John Ross at 4.22.
Off the field, Guidry also posted 21 bench press reps of 225 pounds.
According to NFL Research, Guidry’s bench press reps are the most among players who have run a sub-4.30 40-yard dash at the combine since 2003.
In high school, Guidry won the 100-meter state championship out of Vista Murrieta High School in California. After coming to Salt Lake City, he placed sixth in the 60-meter dash in the winter 2019 U.S. Indoor Championships.
During his last season at Utah, Guidry picked up an honorable All Pac-12 mention.
He played in 14 games for the Utes and tallied 48 total tackles, one interception and defended seven passes.
