Golfer wins Arizona amateur tournament while using only putter

You hear golfers say they can play an entire golf course using only a 7-iron.
But what about the flat stick?
That’s exactly the challenge Anthony Griggs took on in an Arizona amateur event. He used a putter for every shot — every drive, every fairway, every rough, and, of course, every putt — and he won.
Griggs shot an 84 and took home the victory in the D Flight during a tournament at Whirlwind Golf Club at Wild Horse Pass in Chandler recently, according to GolfWeek.
Griggs, who will turn 61 on Tuesday, won the tournament by six strokes.
The putter he used wasn’t even his preferred stick. The Scotty Cameron that Griggs was accustomed to broke while he was preparing for a tournament, so he went to Goodwill and dropped $2.99 on a Wilson putter.
How did this all come about? Apparently, after becoming a strong golfer with the usual clubs, Griggs was just bored. He decided he wanted a new challenge. A friend suggested using the putter for every shot.
It worked well enough. He’s now been doing it for years.
He’ll get an even tougher challenge the next time he comes out. Griggs was elevated to the B Flight, where he’ll go up against better competition.
Griggs and that Wilson will have their work cut out for them.
