The New York Knicks claimed undrafted rookie Jared Harper on Thursday after the two-way player was waived by the Phoenix Suns, reports The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

Reports of the Suns releasing Harper, who spent most of the year with the Northern Arizona Suns in the G League, came on March 12. However, with the NBA ceasing the regular season due to the coronavirus, transactions including the waiver wire were halted.

Harper averaged 20.8 points and 5.7 assists over 33 games in the G League. The Auburn product made three brief appearances with the NBA squad, never playing more than four minutes in a game.

Charania reports the Knicks, in order to claim Harper, waived two-way guard Kadeem Allen, a third-year pro out of Arizona.

New York (21-45) is not among the 22 teams that will resume the 2019-20 season for eight seeding games and the playoffs in Orlando.

With the Suns deciding to release Harper, they have the ability to fill a two-way position to add depth heading into the Disney World bubble. They will be allowed to sign players if they choose during a window starting Saturday.

Phoenix can carry 17 players, including a duo of two-way players, into the Orlando bubble. The Suns were one of the last teams into the 2019-20 season resumption with a record of 26-39.
