Cardinals place DL Zach Allen, LB Isaiah Irving on injured reserve

The Arizona Cardinals placed defensive lineman Zach Allen and linebacker Isaiah Irving on injured reserve Tuesday, the team announced.
Allen suffered an ankle injury in first quarter of the team’s Sunday Night Football win over the Seattle Seahawks. He was able to return to action on the ensuing defensive possession, but ended up heading to the locker room following an offsides penalty. He finished with one QB hit in the victory.
In seven games (two starts) this season, the Cardinals’ 2019 third-round draft pick has amassed 11 tackles and a sack.
Allen ended his rookie season on the IR with a neck injury after totaling eight tackles and three QB hits in four games (one start).
With Allen out, the team could call on rookie lineman Leki Fotu to help fill his shoes. Angelo Blackson could also be in line for more work moving forward.
Irving heads to the IR with a neck injury suffered on SNF. He saw 14 special teams snaps before exiting.
The team also announced the release of tight end Evan Baylis from the 53-man roster and cut tight end Justin Jefferson and wide receiver Andre Patton from the practice squad.
Baylis was active for the Cardinals’ previous three games. He saw a total of six offensive snaps and seven special teams snaps on Sunday night.
