All-Star Game was fun, doesn’t need to return

The Arizona Diamondbacks waited a long time to host the MLB All-Star Game, and now that it’s over people may be wondering when it will return to the Valley of the Sun.

Not Sports 620 KTAR’s Mark Asher.

“It just didn’t have the same feel as I remember the All-Star games having,” Asher said on the Gambo and Ash show. “I went to the game, I had fun, I was glad it was here for Arizona, I really am.

“Now I couldn’t care less if it comes back.”

Asher talked about the lack of star power, something that was evident in that 16 different players decided not to play in the game. That led to quite a few “All-Stars,” players who otherwise would not have been at Chase Field Tuesday night.

“I don’t want to see Tyler Clippard,” he said.

John Gambadoro agreed.

“Think about this,” he said. “After the first inning the American League did not have another pitcher throw that had any All-Star experience.”

Looking at things that way it should come as no surprise that the National League came out on top.

After all, they had the most legitimate All-Stars, which is what the fans want to see. If the game gets back to that, odds are people would like to see it return to Phoenix. If not?

Well, it was fun while it lasted.
