Despite the devastating season-ending injury to shortstop Stephen Drew, the Arizona Diamondbacks are not changing their trade deadline philosophy.
The D-backs are six games over .500 and only four-and-a-half games back of the San Francisco Giants, yet the injury to Drew does not alter the way the team approaches the July 31 deadline.
“We were never going to mortgage the future,” Diamondbacks President Derrick Hall said. “We want to improve the team, but we’re not going to give up on certain prospects we have in the system. Nothing has changed. We’re going to be fine.”
