Inside the Box: Kennedy his usual self
After every Arizona Diamondbacks game we’ll examine the
box score and
provide you with instant analysis. So it’s time to go
Inside the Box for
August 12, 2011: Diamondbacks 4, Mets 3
The Good:
Justin Upton homered in the first inning and the
Diamondbacks never
looked back. It was Justin’s 24th long ball of the season.
Ian Kennedy picked things up from there, pitching seven
strong innings
and allowing just one run on six hits. He struck out five
and was in control
throughout his entire performance.
The Bad:
Xavier Nady was hit with a pitch in the second inning and
was replaced by
Paul Goldschmidt. It was announced that Nady suffered a
fracture in his left
hand.
Also, D-backs relievers David Hernandez and J.J. Putz each
allowed a run in
their respective innings of work.
The Funky:
In the ninth inning Met Scott Hairston hit a ball so high
it hit one of the
steel support beams for the roof. The ball fell back to
the field, foul.
