Inside the Box for
August 23, 2011: Diamondbacks 2, Nationals 0

The Good:

Ian Kennedy was dominant throwing seven innings of shutout baseball only giving up six hits.

The D-backs have been on a skid and their ace went out and did what he was supposed to do ending the team’s six-game losing streak.

Kennedy also contributed with the bat getting two hits.

Sean Burroughs provided all the offense belting a 2-run homer in the seventh inning.

It was Burroughs first home run in the Majors in six years.

Relievers David Hernandez and J.J. Putz came out of the bullpen and finished out the game for Arizona without even giving up a hit.

The Bad:

Justin Upton had to leave the game after getting beaned in the fourth inning.

The team continued to struggle offensively collecting only six hits and going 0-7 with runners in scoring position.
