D-backs sell Mickolio to Japanese team
Half of the haul that the Arizona Diamondbacks received in
the trade that sent Mark Reynolds to the Baltimore Orioles
last winter is now gone.
Monday, the D-backs sold right-handed reliever Kam Mickolio
to the Hiroshima Toyo Carp of the Nippon Professional
Baseball league.
Mickolio, the 27-year-old right hander, pitched in 6 games
for the Diamondbacks in 2011, all out of the bullpen, and
posted a 6.75 ERA in 6.2 innings of work. He spent most of
the season at Triple-A Reno, where he was 3-4 with a 4.97
ERA and 6 saves in 48 games for the Aces.
Mickolio was acquired from Baltimore along with righty
reliever David Hernandez last December.
He’s the 2nd Diamondbacks’ player to be sold to a Japanese
team in less than a year. Utility player Rusty Ryal was
peddled to the Yomiuri Giants of the Nippon League just
before Christmas last year.
