STATELINE, Nev. (AP) — Mark Mulder won the American Century Championship on Sunday, holding off fellow former major league pitcher Eric Gagne by a point.

Mulder finished with 82 points at Edgewood Tahoe in the modified Stableford event. Players receive six points for eagle, three for birdie, one for par, none for bogey and minus-2 for double bogey or worse.

Mulder had seven birdies and two bogeys for a 67 and a 30-point round. He earned $125,000.

“This feels amazing winning this tournament,” Mulder said. “I think about it all year round. I told (NBC commentator) Notah Begay I was going to win. That’s the way I felt. I was in a groove. I’ve been paired with previous winners in previous years and I’ve seen what it takes. I think that’s all part of the preparation for today.”

Gagne also had a 30-point day, making an eagle on the par-4 10th in a 67.

Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Josh Scobee, the second-round leader, was third at 79.

Recently retired tennis player Mardy Fish was fourth at 71.
