The Arizona Coyotes have signed Alex Galchenyuk to his second stint with the team.

The deal became official on Wednesday.

“We are very pleased to sign Alex,” general manager Bill Armstrong said in a release. “He is a versatile, skilled forward who works hard and has earned a spot on our roster. He will be a good addition to our team.”

Galchenyuk played well enough in the preseason to earn a deal for the season. With one more exhibition game to go, he recorded two assists through the first four preseason games he appeared in.

The 27-year-old, who was the third overall draft pick by Montreal in 2012, spent last season between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Ottawa Senators, appearing in 34 games combined. He posted five goals and eight assists. All but a goal of that production came as a member of the Maple Leafs.

Galchenyuk appeared in 72 games with Arizona in 2018-19. He posted 41 points that year, 24 total the next with Pittsburgh and Minnesota, then the 13 combined last year.

He departed the Coyotes before the 2019-20 season in the trade that shipped winger Phil Kessel to Arizona.

The 6-foot-1, 194-pound Galchenyuk spent his first six NHL seasons with the Montreal Canadiens, where he compiled 255 of his 333 career points.
