The Arizona Diamondbacks announced Thursday they have claimed pitcher Zack Burdi off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles.

Across two seasons playing in the major leagues, Burdi has 15 appearances and a 7.79 ERA in 17.1 innings.

The 26-year-old right-hander was picked in the first round of the 2016 MLB Draft by the Chicago White Sox with the 26th overall selection. He made his MLB debut in August of 2020, starting the 2021 season with the White Sox before being waived by them in August. He was then picked up by the Orioles and finished out the rest of the season with Baltimore.

Burdi spent the majority of his 2021 season in the minor leagues at the Triple-A level, appearing in 27 games and sporting a 6.59 ERA.

The D-backs’ 40-man roster now stands at 38 players.
