The Phoenix Suns have signed center Bismack Biyombo for the remainder of the season, the team announced on Tuesday.

The center was originally signed to a 10-day hardship deal on Jan. 1 after the team placed a handful of players, including centers Deandre Ayton and JaVale McGee, and forward Jae Crowder, under NBA health and safety protocols.

Biyombo has impressed in his three games played as a Sun, all of which were wins without the aforementioned players.

In his first two appearances with Phoenix, he averaged 13.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 blocks over 23.5 minutes of floor time per game.

However, Biyombo did not play in the 123-100 loss to the Miami Heat on Saturday, as Ayton, McGee and Crowder all made their return from health and safety protocols.

Suns general manager James Jones raved about the big man’s mentality while on with Arizona Sports’ Burns & Gambo last week.

“We have always targeted him cause we think he represents what we are about,” Jones said.

“He is a guy that competes at a high level, cares about winning and is a great teammate.”

The Suns begin a five-game road trip Tuesday night in Toronto against the Raptors.
