The National League West’s hitter-friendly ballparks have indeed been kind to one of their newest regular patrons so far.

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Mark Trumbo has shown fans at both Chase Field and Coors Field — and at the Sydney Cricket Ground, for that matter — that his power transcends divisions, notching five home runs in his first nine games for his new team, including one in each of the last four games.

The 28-year-old outfielder leads baseball in both home runs, with five, and runs batted in, with 13. His consecutive games with a home run streak ties a franchise record. His home runs and RBI totals through the first nine games are second in Diamondbacks’ history to Luis Gonzalez (7; 2001) and Chris Young (14; 2010), respectively.

Trumbo’s home run and RBI pace are blazing fast, as he’s on track to finish the season with 90 home runs and 234 RBI. His hot start is beginning to resemble more and more that of Gonzalez’s 2001 campaign, which ended up landing the outfielder a Silver Slugger award, All-Star honors and third place in the NL MVP voting.

The Diamondbacks used Trumbo’s fifth home run of the season on Sunday — a two-run shot at Coors Field — to top the Colorado Rockies 5-3 behind starting pitcher Wade Miley’s solid eight innings of work. Trumbo was 1-for-3 with two walks in the game.

The home run Sunday was the 100th of his career, which is now in its fourth full season.

Should Trumbo go yard again Tuesday when the Diamondbacks visit AT&T Park in San Francisco for a three-game series with the Giants, he will set a franchise records for most consecutive games with a home run, passing Reggie Sanders (2001), Troy Glaus (twice in 2005) and Mark Reynolds (2009) on the list.
