The Arizona Coyotes made a trade on Tuesday, sending defenseman Michael Callahan to the Boston Bruins in exchange for a seventh-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.
Callahan, 22, was the 142nd selection in the fifth round of the 2018 NHL Draft by the Coyotes. He has played his last four seasons at the NCAA level for Providence College, wearing the “C” in his last three years. Callahan registered three goals and 11 assists for 14 points in his senior season.
The Bruins pick up a prospect in Callahan who is a Massachusetts native.
Eliteprospects.com ranked Callahan as the Coyotes’ 20th-best prospect in their system. Callahan’s 2018 Coyotes draft class includes current Coyotes center Barrett Hayon (fifth overall) and goalie Ivan Prosvetov (114th overall).
Coyotes general manager Bill Armstrong has already made a few moves this season.
He traded goaltender Carter Hutton to Toronto for future considerations and also dealt defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin and forward Ryan Dzingel to the Maple Leafs in exchange for forward Nick Ritchie and a conditional second-round draft choice.
