The Arizona Coyotes announced on Friday that the team has signed rookie defenseman Dysin Mayo to a three-year contract.

However, the terms of the contract were not disclosed, per club policy.

“We are very pleased to sign Dysin to a new three-year contract,” Coyotes general manager Bill Armstrong said in a press release.

“Dysin has worked extremely hard on and off the ice and has established himself as a reliable NHL defenseman. We look forward to having him on our blue line for years to come.”

Mayo, 25, was drafted in the fifth round (No. 133 overall) by the Coyotes in the 2014 draft and scored in his NHL debut on Oct. 21, marking the eighth defenseman to do so in franchise history.

The rookie leads the team this season in shorthanded time on the ice per game (3:10) and is No. 3 among Coyotes in ice time per contest at an average of 20:45.

Mayo also has the most blocked shots on the club with 83 and his 64 hits lead all Arizona defensemen on the year.

The 6-foot-2, 183-pound Canadian ranks second in the league among all rookies in TOI/G and blocked shots, trailing only the Detroit Red Wings’ Moritz Seider.

Mayo has spent his entire professional hockey career in the organization, including as an original member of the Tucson Roadrunners from 2016-17.
