The Arizona Cardinals selected offensive lineman Lecitus Smith from Virginia Tech with the No. 215 overall pick in the sixth round of the NFL Draft on Saturday.
Smith is a 6-foot-3, 314-pound guard who started 10 games for the Hokies last season. Nine of his starts were at left guard while one was at left tackle.
He started 38 games over four seasons and was a 2020 All-ACC honorable mention.
Smith ran a 5.18-second 40-yard dash at the combine and did 23 bench reps.
NFL Network’s Lance Zierlein went over his strengths and questions.
An athletic, three-year starter at guard with a decent frame, Smith lacks the desired measurables for the position. He is capable of working as a move blocker and out in space. However, he really struggles with hand placement and staying under control at the point of attack and on work-up blocks.
Smith joins a veteran offensive line group with fellow guards Justin Pugh, Will Hernandez, Justin Murray and Josh Jones.
The Cardinals entered Day 3 of the draft with five picks, two in the sixth round and three in the seventh.
They took former USC and Texas running back Keaontay Ingram with the No. 201 selection earlier in the sixth round.
Arizona dealt its first-round pick to the Baltimore Ravens for wide receiver Marquise Brown and the No. 100 overall selection.
The organization drafted three players on Day 2: Colorado State tight end Trey McBride (No. 55), San Diego State edge rusher Cameron Thomas (No. 87) and Cincinnati edge rusher Myjai Sanders (No. 100).
