Vikings CB Patrick Peterson predicts he’ll have 2 interceptions vs. Cardinals

Oct 29, 2022, 12:15 PM | Updated: 3:47 pm

Minnesota Vikings cornerback Patrick Peterson has predicted he’ll have not just one, but two interceptions against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium.

Peterson, who is in his second season with Minnesota after 10 with Arizona, made the bold prediction on his All Things Covered podcast with Bryant McFadden last week before the Vikings’ bye week.

“I’m getting two (interceptions) October 30,” Peterson said. “You already know who we are playing.”

Peterson has 30 interceptions in 173 NFL games. Only twice has he had two picks in one game: in 2013 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and in 2014 versus the then-St. Louis (now Los Angeles) Rams.

The Cardinals selected Peterson fifth overall in the 2011 NFL Draft. He made the Pro Bowl eight times with the Cardinals before leaving as a free agent in 2021.

It was not a happy split. Peterson has claimed that Cardinals General Manager Steve Keim did not return multiple texts he sent to him after Peterson’s final season in Arizona.

Meanwhile, linebacker Jordan Hicks also is excited to play the Cardinals, his former team for three seasons.

“Just treating it like it’s any other week,” Hicks told reporters on Thursday. “Preparing the same way, watch the film the same way. Obviously, I’m going to be very excited going out there.

“After the first snap, it doesn’t matter who’s on the other side,” he added. “It’s about yourself and what this defense is supposed to do and how we’re supposed to attack them, and so a lot of it is the anticipation of the game and just trying to minimize that and make it not as special as possible.”

The Cardinals face the Vikings Sunday at 10 a.m. Tune to Arizona Sports 98.7, the Arizona Sports app or arizonasports.com for the action.
