The Arizona Cardinals announced on Monday they have released wide receiver Andre Baccellia.
Baccellia has been through this song and dance before with Arizona this season. He has bounced around from the active roster and practice squad, with Monday’s release being his fourth of the year. The pass catcher on all three previous occasions was re-signed to the Cardinals’ practice squad.
Baccellia, who also got some special teams snaps in his six games played for Arizona, has five catches for 32 yards this season. He played one offensive snap in Sunday’s 25-24 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers after being activated the day before.
The undrafted wideout out of Washington originally got his NFL start in brief preseason stints with the Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots in 2020 before he was signed by the Cardinals in April 2021, spending all season on the practice squad.
The Cardinals’ wide receiver room received a boost on Sunday with the return of Hollywood Brown, marking the wideout’s first time playing alongside DeAndre Hopkins due to Hopkins’ suspension and Brown’s knee injury. Rondale Moore, however, was out injured on Sunday and so was Greg Dortch, the receivers with the third- and fourth-most catches behind Hopkins and Brown.
