It is going to be quite the eventful February in the Valley sports scene.

That is the case every year for the WM Phoenix Open, but with the Super Bowl taking place at State Farm Stadium later in the week, a whole lot of big names could swing into town a few days early to, well, take some swings.

The Annexus Pro-Am at the WM Phoenix Open takes place on Wednesday, Feb. 8, four days prior to the big game. It will feature 28-time Olympic medalist Michael Phelps and future Baseball Hall of Famer Albert Pujols.

The early list includes Phelps, who hasn’t missed the event since 2016. He was pretty busy that year, training for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil, where he won five gold medals and one silver in his final Olympics.

Pujols is starting off his retirement right with his first appearance at the Annexus Pro-Am. The 22-year pro captivated baseball fans in his 2022 swan song in his chase toward 700 career home runs, one he would compete and end at 703.

NFL all-time leading rusher Emmitt Smith is also set to compete for the fifth time in the golf event and several more big names are expected to be announced ahead of the big week.
