Report: Cardinals request permission to interview Ravens’ Joe Hortiz for GM

The Arizona Cardinals have requested permission to interview Baltimore Ravens director of player personnel Joe Hortiz for their general manager vacancy, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Hortiz was a GM candidate last season, interviewing with the New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers.
He joined the Ravens in 1998 as an area scout. He held that position for eight years before moving to a national scout from 2006-08.
From there, Hortiz was promoted to director of college scouting in 2009, a position he held until 2018. The following year he was named co-director of player personnel along with George Kokinis.
Hortiz was in his role when the Ravens drafted now-Cardinals wide receiver Hollywood Brown.

Hortiz is the latest external name linked to the Cardinals, joining Chicago Bears director of player personnel Ian Cunningham — who reportedly interviewed for GM on Thursday — former New York Giants GM Jerry Reese, Tennessee Titans director of player personnel Monti Ossenfort and San Francisco 49ers director of player personnel Ran Carthon.
Niners assistant GM Adam Peters was another name the Cardinals requested an interview with, but he declined to speak with both Arizona and the Titans.
Internally, the Cardinals have held interviews with vice president of player personnel Quentin Harris and vice president of pro personnel Adrian Wilson, owner Michael Bidwill said Monday.
Arizona is in the process of replacing general manager Steve Keim, who stepped away from his job due to health reasons. Keim had been in his GM post since 2013.
