NHL posts video of Tie and Max Domi’s first goals

Oct 22, 2015, 2:04 PM

Like father, like son applies to a lot of scenarios, but apparently not when it comes to riding your hockey stick like a broom.

The NHL posted a video Thursday of Tie Domi’s first career goal in 1991 followed by the Arizona Coyotes’ Max Domi’s first in 2015.

Tie Domi’s goal happened in the third period of a 4-2 game between the New York Rangers and the Philadelphia Flyers in March of 1991. It featured a stellar celebration — Domi put his stick between his leg and pretended to ride it.

The younger Domi’s goal occurred in the second period of his first career game with the Coyotes against the Los Angeles Kings earlier this month, and unfortunately, only featured a huge smile and high fives.

Tie Domi scored 104 career goals in 17 NHL seasons. Four of those in the Rangers’ organization, who are coincidentally playing Max Domi’s Coyotes Thursday night.
