Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Shelby Miller threw six scoreless frames in a rehab start with High-A Visalia on Thursday night.

The D-backs’ former No. 2 starter allowed two hits and struck out 11 against the Lancaster Jethawks. Miller also induced two groundouts and three flyouts before being pulled.

Miller also proved efficient, throwing just 78 pitches, 51 for strikes.

After being demoted due to a 1-6 record and 7.09 ERA through 10 starts, Miller most recently threw 65 pitches in an extended spring game in Mesa on Saturday. It’s expected Miller will make at least one more start in order to extend his pitch count closer to 100 before the Diamondbacks consider bringing him back to the majors.

Miller has been on the disabled list since May 27 due to an index finger injury.
