Cards must replace Breaston, have options

During his four years in Arizona, wide receiver Steve Breaston earned a reputation for being a tough player who the Cardinals could rely on.
Now Breaston is heading to Kansas City, meaning the Cardinals have a hole to fill. While the talk is of them doing so from within, maybe with second-year pro Andre Roberts, that isn’t exactly an exciting option.
“Larry Fitzgerald and Andre Roberts lining up,” Sports 620 KTAR’s John Gambadoro said, “If I’m a defense, what am I doing? I’m doubling Larry.”
So, the Cardinals should look elsewhere for an option. There are some big names available, and they likely wouldn’t be terribly expensive. Besides, the Cardinals have a lot of cap to spend.
“Braylon Edwards,” Sports 620 KTAR’s Dave Burns suggested. “He’s a guy who could be out there.”
Burns said, what it really comes down to, is that you can’t spend all the resources to get Kevin Kolb and then not give him receivers to throw the ball to.
“You can’t go into it with Larry Fitzgerald, Andre Roberts and Early Doucet as your three receivers,” he said.
Gambadoro echoed that sentiment.
“There’s just too many good wide receivers that are out there,” he said. “So why you’d want to go with Andre Roberts or Early Doucet when you could go get a legitimate number two receiver at a really fair price, it just doesn’t make any sense to me.”
