TEMPE, Ariz. — The Arizona Cardinals will get a much-needed boost to their pass rush with the return of linebacker John Abraham.
Abraham, who had been considering retirement after suffering a concussion in the team’s Week 1 win over the Chargers, has decided to resume his football career. According to Cardinals coach Bruce Arians, Abraham will return to the team Tuesday and be ready to go as soon as he passes all of the NFL’s tests with regards to head injuries.
“He’s excited about it,” Arians said of Abraham’s mentality.
The decision to come back was apparently made over the weekend.
“He talked to a couple players Saturday night in the hotel; we had been texting back and forth the last three days,” Arians said. “Probably about 30 minutes ago I asked him, ‘do you want me to announce it at the press conference,’ and he said, ‘yes, that would be great.'”
