The Curtain of Distraction will always belong to Arizona State and its 942 Crew.
But now, it has a brother. Or, maybe cousin?
Herb Sendek, who coached the Sun Devils for nine seasons and was in charge when the original curtain was born, brought it with him to Santa Clara this season.
On Thursday, in a game against Gonzaga, Santa Clara’s “Rough Riders” debuted their own curtain, complete with students wearing costumes trying to distract Bulldog free throw shooters.
Unfortunately for the Broncos, it did not really work out for them, as Gonzaga made 22-of-28 free throws on their way to an 88-57 victory.
