Suns falter in second half, lose to Clippers: By the Numbers

Mar 5, 2014, 5:35 AM | Updated: 2:50 pm

Fresh off a pair of home wins over the New Orleans Pelicans and Atlanta Hawks, the Phoenix Suns were humbled by the division-leading Los Angeles Clippers, suffering a 104-96 loss.

The Suns took a nine-point advantage into halftime, however the Clippers outscored the home squad 60-43 over the final two quarters en route to the road win.

Here’s a look back at the eight-point defeat:

1:

The loss was Phoenix’s first at home against a division opponent in 2014. The Suns were last beaten by a Pacific Division foe at US Airways Center on Nov. 20, 2013 by the Sacramento Kings.

6:

Former No. 5 overall pick Alex Len made his first career start in place of center Miles Plumlee (knee). Len scored six points and grabbed six boards in 19 minutes of action.

10:

Leandro Barbosa suffered a fracture in his left hand during the loss. He is not expected to need surgery but there is no timetable for his return.

11:

Jared Dudley made his regular season return to Phoenix Wednesday. In 11 minutes of play, Dudley scored four points on 2-of-3 shooting.

15:

Marcus Morris, who wears No. 15, reached double-digit scoring for the sixth time in nine games. The former Kansas standout was the only bench score to finish with more than 10 points. He also finished with two rebounds and three assists.

28:

Former Sun Matt Barnes scored a season-high 28 points on 12-of-17 shooting from the field. Of those 28 points, 18 came in the game-changing third quarter.

37:

The Suns more or less lost control of the contest in the first 12 minutes after halftime, getting outscored 37-20 by the Clippers. In the frame, Los Angeles hit 15 of shots it attempted.

72.7:

Suns forward P.J. Tucker finished with a double double (18 points and 10 rebounds). He scored his 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting — marking his highest shooting percentage (72.7) when attempting at least 10 shots in a game this season.
